    Pastor Richard H. Calhoun, Sr. has been actively engaged in community work throughout the course of his ministry. He served as a volunteer Red Cross chaplain at the Family Assistance Center for victims and family members of the 911 disaster. He initiated two Community Soup kitchens within the Brooklyn communities, Coney Island and Bethany SDA churches. In addition to his pastoral duties he has conducted Community Health Expo, Anti-Smoking Poster contest for teens, in conjunction with the National “Kick Butt Day,” and sponsor NY Knicks Community Van. He was awarded a grant to initiate a Community Exercise Center at Calvary SDA Church, NY Walk for Diabetes.

    Pastor Calhoun has also produced a community survey video, "What is Morality?" and conducted workshops revolving around young people on topics such as "How to Deal with Grief," and "How To Talk So Your Teens Will Listen." He has hosted a religious radio program at Hope SDA Church, Connecticut. He also served as a board member of the Ecumenical Education Initiative in Hartford CT. He is an author who has written various articles for the Community Reporter as well as editor of the Lexington Avenue Block Association Newsletter. He has an interest in the young people of the community were he established community based after school centers where children could go and receive assistance with home work and develop skill mastery in areas where they were struggling. He is a member of the 81st Precinct Police/Clergy Association, Lexington Avenue Block Association, Lexington Avenue Child Care Senior Care Inc., member and president of the United Christian Coalition located in Brooklyn, NY.

    Pastor Calhoun is a man of God with a worldwide vision for the propagation of the gospel to all people. He has traveled to Malawi with the group, Adventist for Africa, to participate in Aids awareness workshops and seminars. He conducted a Revelation Seminar revival, supported vegetable gardens for prisoners in Malawi with the Stuyvesant Heights SDA Church. He has also initiated and built the Ibaji Medical Clinic in Nigeria.

    He is married to Yvonne of Jamaica, WI. Currently she is a diagnostician for identifying student placement, reading and social studies, teacher in the New York Public School system. They have two children Richard H. Jr., a student at Andrews University (Master's of Divinity program) and Rachael M. (National University of Health Sciences, ND program: Naturopathic Medicine program)

    Pastor & Mrs. Calhoun love the Lord and the motto of their ministry is, "We all love the Lord and simply want to do his will. Our Pastor favorite phrase is "By God’s Grace."
